Political Signs Swiped From Salt Lake County Yards

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – With the presidential election officially four weeks away, people from both sides of the aisle are reporting that campaign signs are being swiped from their yards.

It happened to Madison Larsen.

“I feel like now is the time for us to be brave and not silence ourselves. So that is why we chose to put up our signs this year,” Larson said.

She put up Burgess Owens signs this year and they stayed there for three weeks. After her family put a Trump flag in the window, the signs were stolen.

“Every once in a while, somebody gives us a honk,” said Susan Lind.

It’s hard to tell if it’s a honk to support her candidates. Her large Biden/Harris signs were also taken.

“Respect people with different views. I have to do that especially in Utah,” Lind said.

Lind said she is quiet when it comes to talking about politics. However, she uses signs to let people know which candidates she supports. Whoever took her signs apparently disagreed.

“It shows intolerance and disrespect to personal property,” Lind said.

Larsen may not support Lind’s political choices, but she agreed the theft was disrespectful.

“It’s definitely discomforting,” she added.

Both women have a clear message, don’t steal from others.

“It’s a time of patriotism and love for this country. And supporting each other whether our opinions are the same or different,” said Larsen.

“If they really don’t want Biden to win, vote for another candidate,” Lind added. “They don’t have to tear down signs. “
