SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health is reporting 467 more confirmed cases of COVID-19, two more deaths, and 25,861 more vaccines administered in the state.

Overall, that brings Utah to 381,254 total confirmed cases, 2,060 coronavirus-related deaths, and 1,137,046 vaccines administered since the pandemic began.

There are 160 Utahns currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 57 in intensive care, the health department reported Saturday. The state is currently utilizing about 75% of its ICU capacity.

Saturday’s numbers come as 14,990 more tests were conducted, officials said.

Over the past week, the state is averaging 469 new cases per day and a positive test over test rate of 4.1%. One month ago, Utah was averaging 779 cases per day.

The deaths reported Saturday were of two men between ages 65 and 84 who were hospitalized when they died. One was from Davis County and the other was from Weber County, the health department said.

On Wednesday, March 24, Utah will open up vaccine scheduling to every Utah adult who wants one. The vaccine is currently only available to Utahns age 50 and up, and those with certain underlying health conditions.

The opening comes as the state anticipates the end of its mask mandate on April 10. Many businesses and local governments are still weighing their own continuing mask requirements.
