Authorities Arrest Man Who Allegedly Stabbed Woman, Dumped Body On I-15
According to arresting documents, Oscar Cuevas-Landa, 18, was booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and second-degree aggravated assault.
Troopers responded to a call at approximately 10 p.m. after witnesses said they saw a woman’s body fall from a vehicle on I-15 in the Farmington area. When officials arrived, they discovered the body of a woman described to be in her 20s or 30s in the HOV lane.
Witnesses told the UHP that they’d seen the vehicle driving erratically before the woman’s body fall from the car.
The UHP also responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle, which they found abandoned a short distance away from where the woman’s body had been discovered.
Davis County Sheriff’s deputies made contact with Cuevas-Landa later in the area of State Street and Main Street in Farmington, arresting documents state. The suspect was not wearing a shirt and had on only one shoe. He told officials he was being robbed.
The deputy noted the man had blood on his body, and Cuevas-Landa was taken into custody. He told authorities that he was using LSD, and that he had stabbed a woman who was giving him a ride. He explained the woman had been staring at him, so he stabbed her, undid her seatbelt and pushed her out the driver’s side door.
According to the probable cause statement, the medical examiner reported the victim sustained two wounds that were consistent with stab sounds.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
