552 New COVID-19 Cases Due To Delayed Reports; 7 New Deaths In Utah
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – State health officials Friday reported 552 new COVID-19 cases in Utah and seven new deaths.
The increase in case numbers is due to 144 delayed case reports from July.
The rolling seven-day average for positive cases is 369 per day, or 8.8% of those tested. The state has tested 589,817 people so far, and 45,976 of those tests came back positive.
There are 171 patients currently hospitalized with the virus, 69 of which are in intensive care units. Another 19 patients are currently hospitalized as COVID-19 persons under investigation. The Utah Department of Health reports 53.4% of all non-ICU beds and 66% of all ICU beds in Utah hospitals are occupied.
So far, 360 Utahns have died from the coronavirus. The following deaths were reported Friday:
San Juan County
- Female, between 65- 84, long-term care facility resident
Utah County
- Female, between 65-84, hospitalized at time of death
Salt Lake County
- Female – between 45-64, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, long-term care facility resident
- Male, older than 85, long-term care facility resident
The state is considering 36,679 patients as recovered, meaning those patients received a positive diagnosis more than three weeks ago and they have not died.
