Utah Linebacker Sione Lund Enters Transfer Portal For Second Time In Career
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Junior Utah linebacker Sione Lund has entered the transfer portal for the second time in his collegiate career according to a report by Steve Bartle of UteZone.com.
Lund managed six tackles in all 13 games for Utah in 2019, the majority of his snaps took place on special teams, however, Lund appeared in 8 games on defense for one of the countries most formidable defenses a year ago.
In 2018, after deciding to attend Stanford University following an impressive high school career with Brighton High School in Salt Lake City, Lund transferred to Utah to be closer to his family.
The former four-star prospect transitioned from running back to linebacker once he arrived at Utah.
Lund’s decision to enter the transfer portal allows him to explore options elsewhere. Once compliance files his transfer request paperwork, other college football teams will be granted permission to speak with him.
Currently, Lund is not listed on the University of Utah football roster. It remains unclear as to whether Lund is currently with the team or has had his duties foregone.
Earlier this year, prior to Utah’s Spring Ball, head coach Kyle Whittingham announced that Lund had been suspended indefinitely from all team activities following a violation of team rules.
