West Valley City administers all available vaccines in no appointment drive-thru event
(UPDATE 3/14/21 1:22 p.m.) – West Valley City officials say that all available vaccines have now been given. The city had been providing drive-thru vaccines with no appointment needed.
Original story below left unedited for context.
Today until 5 p.m. and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., West Valley City is providing drive-through COVID-19 vaccines without an appointment.
The city announced the drive-through vaccines on its Twitter account Saturday around 11 a.m., but while eliminating appointments, the city was not changing eligibility. The state still requires those getting a vaccine be 50 and older or if be 16 and older with a qualifying medical condition.
On April 1 all state residents 16 and over will be eligible to start making vaccine appointments, thought people under 18 will require parental consent at the time of vaccination and they may only receive the Pfizer vaccine.
Those wishing to get the drive-through vaccines should head to West Valley City’s City Hall at 3600 S., Constitution Boulevard. The location is immediately next to a TRAX stop but it isn’t clear if pedestrians can participate in the unscheduled appointments or if a vehicle is required.
Granite and Jordan said 70% of staff members received the shot.
