Child COVID-19 hospitalizations rise in Utah
Salt Lake City, Utah — Medical workers are concerned about the number of child hospitalizations in Utah.
More Utah children are landing in the hospital due to coronavirus-related complications as the federal emergency use authorization process continues for approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in kids aged five to 11-years-old.
Children account for approximately 20% of new Utah COVID-19 cases, according to Intermountain Healthcare.
The majority of them belong to children aged five to 10-years old.
Along with hospitalizations, doctors are seeing an increase in the rare and potentially deadly multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children, also known as MIS-C.
