Crews respond to fire at West Valley City school
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Firefighters responded to a West Valley City school Wednesday after a call went out about a fire in the building.
Crews were seen battling smoke atop the Ensign Learning Center at 2755 Decker Lake Lane. Teachers at the school noticed the smoke at around 10:45 a.m. and immediately evacuated the 700 students and staff.
Upon arriving at the location, firefighters battled flames and smoke coming from the roof area until the fire was put out.
Building inspectors are on the scene to inspect the school after part of the roof collapsed.
There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
