A group of 24 Utah firefighters head out of state to battle blazes
Utah – 24 more firefighters from Utah are sent out of state in response to wildfires that dot the western U.S.
This group, heading to Montana, will leave Thursday morning to deploy for 14 working days plus travel days as part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, or EMAC, that coordinates state emergency agencies. This group will make up two task forces, following two early task forces from Utah that are in Oregon.
The latest group consists of firefighters and fire-fighting equipment from Utah Forestry Fire and State Lands (Wasatch and Vernal,) Unified Fire Authority, Salt Lake City, Provo, Lehi, Washington City, and North Tooele Fire District fire departments.
The previous group is on its fourth day of deployment. It left Sunday, July 18.
