A returned LDS missionary gave Post Malone a Book of Mormon in the airport in Utah
St. George, Utah – Following his two-year service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Micah Hyde was welcomed back to Utah at the airport by his parents, siblings, and his favorite musician.
While the Hyde family was waiting for Micah to land at the airport, Post Malone, a Grammy-nominated singer with a hit song, was at St. George Regional Airport waiting for a plane.
While the recently returned missionary was waiting to get off the airport, Micah’s family had the opportunity to meet Post Malone. The artist had given Micah a video message congratulating him on his service.
“We were all out there talking to him, but then once we went inside I was definitely excited to see my brother because it’s been a while,” Micah’s sister Halie Hyde said.
The singer was briefed by the Hyde family about Micah and their reason for being at the airport. Family members told Micah they saw the musician when they were reunited with him, and then they spotted Post Malone once more after Micah stepped off the plane.
“My dad had spotted him, he was like, ‘Come over here,’ so we run over and my dad’s like, ‘Post Malone! Micah’s here!’” Micah said. “Post Malone came over and talked to me, I got a picture with him, and he came up and hugged me. He was a super nice guy, just had a good conversation.”
Micah realized he had one last Book of Mormon to distribute as a missionary after running into the singer. He claimed to have snatched up the book and dashed back to the singer’s airport security checkpoint.
“I was like, ‘Post do you have one of these?’” Micah said. “And he walks back out of security over to me and he’s like, ‘No I don’t,’ and I was like, ‘Here you go.’”
Micah expressed his wish that this event will serve as a reminder to people to put aside their differences and show love for their neighbors.
“If Post Malone can do it — and he’s probably one of the most famous singer-songwriters out there — then I think we can all do that, and just be kind to our neighbor,” Micah said.
