Four killed in a Utah County plane crash
UTAH COUNTY, Utah — Utah County Sheriff’s office has confirmed four fatalities in a plane crash near Box Elder Peak in American Fork Canyon.
The plane crashed near Box Elder Peak above the Granite Flats Campground, according to police.
Initially two fatalities were reported, officials have now confirmed a total of four fatalities. The identities of the victims have not been released at the time of press.
Officials have stated the plane was a small aircraft but have not given the model of the plane. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the flight plan was unavailable at the time of press.
Police later identified the occupants of the plane as the pilot, 35-year-old Tyson Colby Brummett of Salt Lake City, Utah; 35-year-old Alex Blackhurst Ruegner of Riverton, Utah; and Alex’s aunt and uncle 60-year-old Elaine W. Blackhurst and her husband, 62-year-old Douglas Robinson Blackhurst, both also of Riverton.
The plane had departed from South Valley Regional Airport in West Jordan prior to the crash.
