The Utah Jazz drafted Udoka Azubuike, a center from Kansas University, with the 27th pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft on Wednesday.

Azubuike was the player of the year in the Big 12 Conference.

The team also traded center Toney Bradley and the 38th draft pick to the Detroit Pistons for “future considerations.”

“Moving off the $3.5M Toney Bradley contract gives the Jazz much needed financial/roster flexibility,” said Bobby Marks of ESPN.

The Jazz have yet to publicly comment on the trade as of Wednesday night.

In exchange for the 23rd pick, the Utah Jazz got the 27th and 38th picks from the New York Knicks.

With their last pick, the Jazz drafted Elijah Hughes, a forward from Syracuse University.

It was also a big night for Utah State University guard Sam Merrill, who was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Merrill helped lead the Aggies to a Mountain West Conference championship title in 2019 for the first time since 2011.
