One dead, one critically injured in West Valley City accident
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — One person has died and another remains in critical condition after a crash between a pickup truck and passenger car in West Valley City on Sunday.
On Monday, West Valley City Police announced 22-year-old Katey Darling died of injuries suffered in the crash.
According to WVC Police, the car was traveling westbound on 5400 South when it ran a red light at Mountain View Corridor (State Route 85). The Utah Department of Transportation first reported the accident around 5:45 p.m.
The car was hit by a pickup truck that was southbound on Mountain View.
Darling and the 20-year-old driver, whom police did not identify by name, were both hospitalized.
The occupants in the pickup were not injured.
All directions except northbound were closed or partially closed at the intersection.
