Teen Boy Reported Missing Following Hike in Southern Utah
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH — Rescue crews are searching for a 15-year-old boy who went missing while hiking with his family on a remote trail in southern Utah on Friday.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Britton Kelsey was walking with family members on the Red Mountain Trail. Around 3 p.m., the teenager decided to slow down and join a second group that was farther behind. The second group of family members told police they never saw Kelsey.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office began searching for the teenager Friday evening, sending out two helicopters. Efforts were called off around midnight and resumed Saturday morning.
Kelsey was last seen wearing a royal blue sweatshirt and gray athletic shorts. He has dark brown hair.
