Ogden, Utah – According to police paperwork, the guy accused of driving under the influence in Ogden on Friday night, which resulted in a pedestrian’s death and multiple other drivers’ injuries, was allegedly escaping from detoxification treatment at a hospital.

The 26-year-old Tyson Bryce Treasure was arrested on 12 counts, including four counts of careless driving, all class B misdemeanors; one case of failing to remain at an accident causing death, a third-degree felony; and one count of driving under the influence, a class B misdemeanor.

An affidavit of probable cause filed in Weber County states that on Friday, December 27, at approximately 5:15 p.m., law enforcement personnel were notified of an initial incident. According to papers, Ogden Regional Medical Center staff told police that Treasure had entered the facility drunk, “but was since refusing detox treatment and fled.”

Treasure hit at least one other vehicle with his truck in the hospital parking area, but he did not stop. His name was given to authorities as the suspected driver by hospital staff.

Treasure ran north after leaving the hospital parking area, which resulted in more reports for careless driving. Near 40th and Adams, a trooper saw Treasure’s car and tried to pull him over, but Treasure refused to stop, and the officer abandoned the chase.

Additional calls were received regarding hit-and-run accidents involving Treasure’s car, including ones that resulted in a pedestrian’s death and injuries to other drivers. After running a red light, Treasure allegedly T-boned another car at the junction of 12th and Harrison. According to the paperwork, the second car’s driver was seriously hurt after being pinned.

At 20th and Harrison, Treasure is charged with running another red light and colliding with two other cars that were stopped at the intersection. A person in the crossing was run over by one of the autos after it was forced into the junction. According to the affidavit, one motorist “suffered severe injuries to the face,” and the pedestrian eventually passed away in the hospital.

Treasure is charged with trying to drive past the intersection at 42nd and Harrison by colliding with additional vehicles that were stopped at a red light. He allegedly made an illegal U-turn after colliding with the automobiles and ran away. There were no reported injuries in this collision.

According to records, investigators observed “the odor of alcoholic beverages emanating” from Treasure when he was arrested and brought to the police station for an interview. According to reports, Treasure acknowledged drinking earlier that day.

Police used warrants to take Treasure’s blood and get his medical information. The following charges led to Treasure’s arrest and booking into Weber County Jail:

• One count of failure to respond to officers’ signal to stop — death/injury, second-degree felony
• One count of automobile homicide involving device — criminal negligence, second-degree felony
• One count of failure to remain at accident involving death, third-degree felony
