Utah National Guard Humvee vehicle catches fire
Orem, Utah — According to the officials, a second vehicle belonging to the Utah National Guard has burned in an accident this week.
On Friday The Utah National Guard tweeted that one of its Humvee vehicles caught fire while traveling on Interstate 15.
Soldiers could be seen in one photo putting out the fire while the vehicle sat on the shoulder of the highway near 1600 North.
“Soldiers exited the vehicle safely and extinguished the fire,” the Utah National Guard tweeted late Friday afternoon. “There were no injuries.”
According to Utah National Guard Lt. Col. Jaime Thomas, this is the second fire involving Utah National Guard vehicles this week. The first incident happened Wednesday near Dugway.
Thomas said the circumstances of each fire are still under investigation.
Both fires occurred during a record heatwave in Utah with multiple days of triple-digit temperatures.
