Sister Donna Packer, Wife of the late President Boyd K. Packer, passes away
Salt Lake City, Utah — Wife of the late President Boyd K. Packer, Sister Donna Packer, has passed away at the age of 94.
Officials from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Sister Packer died Saturday night from “causes incident to age.”
President Packer died just 25 days before their 68th anniversary in 2015. The couple was married in 1947 and had 10 children, seven sons, and three daughters.
According to a Church spokesperson, at her death, Sister Packer had a posterity of more than 200 people.
“Mom’s life focus was the love of family and the gospel of Jesus Christ,” said Kathleen Packer Bullock, the Packers’ youngest daughter. “We all knew how deeply she cared for us children and how much she loved our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ Mom radiated goodness.”
Less than three months before his passing, at his final general conference address, President Packer spoke about his love for Sister Packer.
“When it comes to my wife, the mother of our children, I am without words. The feeling is so deep and the gratitude so powerful that I am left almost without expression,” he said. “I am grateful for each moment I am with her side by side and for the promise the Lord has given that there will be no end.”
