Salt Lake City, Utah – Makaya Caters is a food truck owned by Roody Salvator that offers a “Taste of Haiti.” He is one of the few chefs in Utah providing cuisine from his own country, having immigrated to the United States in 2004.

Because of all the negative things that have happened to us, Haitians, regrettably, are not known for their food, he remarked. “To me, one of the most beautiful things about Haiti is the cuisine; we’ve had natural disasters, poverty, political unrest, and gang violence, and all of that has sucked the oxygen out of the beautiful things we have.”

Salvator claimed that he was put back beyond belief by Donald Trump’s remarks at last week’s presidential debate, which were directed against Haitian immigrants living in Ohio.

Trump claimed, “They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in.” “Cats are being eaten by them. The locals’ pets are being eaten by them.

Salvator often makes over $1,000 on Saturdays at the Downtown Farmers Market; this weekend, he made about $350, he claimed.

Salvator remarked, “It was unbelievable because someone actually asked, ‘Dog or cat?'”

Springfield, Ohio city authorities assert that there are no reliable reports regarding Trump’s assertions. The chef is at a loss on how to dispel the rumor.

Salvator claimed that “you get almost all the flavors when you have a plate.” “It’s a wonderful marriage of sweet, salty, spicy, tangy, and umami in the culture that you’ll get.”

He fears that the company he has spent the last ten years developing could be destroyed by these remarks.

“I am unsure of what will happen to my business if this keeps up.”

Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, Salvator parks the Makaya Caters truck in Rose Park off of 1000 North on Victoria Way. He spends his Saturdays at Pioneer Park’s farmers market; on Saturday, the 21st, he will be at the Afro Fest at Library Square.
