A woman has been charged following an incident in which she reportedly fired shots at family members as they were leaving in a vehicle
West Valley City, Utah – On Wednesday, a woman faced six felony charges after authorities reported that she fired multiple shots at family members as they were leaving in a vehicle.
On September 23, law enforcement officials arrived at the scene of a domestic violence incident and found a woman seated in the roadway, surrounded by multiple bullet casings and a handgun in close proximity. A woman, identified as Lashawn Denise Doster, reportedly approached law enforcement and claimed ownership of the firearm.
Court documents reveal that Doster informed police she discharged the firearm in the direction of her female family member’s husband. She reportedly claimed that she witnessed the man strike her family member with his vehicle and then drive off with her family member partially hanging out of the car.
Authorities report that Doster confessed to discharging his weapon “to get him to stop” fleeing the scene.
In the course of the investigation, authorities reported finding seven casings and two spent bullets on the roadway, along with six bullet holes in the man’s vehicle. Holes were discovered in the passenger headlight, hood, driver’s side windshield, and driver’s side door.
The court documents indicated that there were no reported injuries.
Doster faces six counts of third-degree felony discharge of a firearm related to domestic violence and has been taken into custody at the Salt Lake County Jail.
