WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A wanted fugitive whom police described as an armed and dangerous “career criminal” is back behind bars after a chase that began in Salt Lake City and ended in West Valley City.

US Marshals Service officials said 29-year-old Sean Larson is an example of the small percentage of criminals who commit a large amount of crime.

Larson’s arrest follows this week’s commitment by the Salt Lake City Police Department and other state and federal agencies to track down suspects with multiple warrants or no-bail warrants.

“This guy is a career criminal. This is a guy who had a kidnapping out of Nevada, he’s here in Utah, he’s a suspect in several other crimes, shootings. We tracked him down to a motel in Salt Lake City, he fled and we arrested him in West Valley after he stole a vehicle,” said Matt Harris, US Marshal for Utah.

Larson is suspected in several recent crimes, including drive-by shootings, illegal firearms sales and aggravated assault on two different women. He’s also on the sex offender registry in connection with a kidnapping in Nevada.

US Marshals tracked him to an SLC motel Wednesday night, but they said he fled on foot, broke into a home, stole a vehicle and fled again before crashing the stolen vehicle. Larson is accused of ramming patrol cars during the pursuit.
