Driver killed in a crash in Ogden Canyon
Ogden, Utah – Friday afternoon a driver was killed in a crash in Ogden Canyon, said Trooper Chris Bishop with the Utah Highway Patrol.
According to Bishop, the crash that happened at 1:21 p.m., involved a Subaru, a pickup truck hauling a horse trailer, and one other vehicle.
Utah Highway Patrol says the Subaru was eastbound on state Route 39 through the canyon, while the pickup was westbound. The driver of the Subaru “went into oncoming traffic in what appeared to be an attempt to pass another eastbound vehicle, and collided” with the pickup, according to UHP.
The impact of the crash pushed the Subaru pack into the eastbound lane, where it hit the vehicle its driver had attempted to pass.
According to UHP, the driver of the Subaru was fatally injured. “All other parties suffered only minor injuries.”
Bishop says State Route 39 was closed in both directions while troopers investigated the crash, but the road was expected to reopen before 6 p.m.
