For those who enjoy dessert, Sugar House Store offers pudding

Salt Lake City, Utah – Banana pudding is just a delicious treat for many people. For Parker D. Barbee, however, it’s a tale of love that lasts a lifetime.

Growing up, Barbee never had banana pudding as a family dessert because his grandmother was allergic to bananas, but he always managed to grab a sample of his favorite dish.

“Banana pudding has just always been my go-to dessert ever since I was a little boy,” he said.

Owning a pudding store wasn’t precisely Barbee’s goal, despite his love for the delicacy.

However, that all changed a few years ago when he lost his job.

Barbee clarified, “This idea has always been in the back of my mind.” “It wasn’t until that happened that I kind of just took and ran with it and, I guess, seized the day.”The entire phrase, Parfé Diem, sort of relates to my story in this way.

Before opening a Sugar House location a year and a half ago, Parfé Diem began serving whipped puddings out of a ghost kitchen in South Salt Lake. They have various core and rotating varieties in addition to their award-winning original banana pudding.

“The fact that people are loving it, and bringing their friends and family, celebrating their birthday, is an incredible feeling, and those reactions never get old,” Barbee stated.

Only a year ago, Parfé Diem was one of four companies nationwide to receive a $25,000 grant from the NAACP and Shark Tank investor Daymond John.

“I put in so much time, late nights, a lot of sweat equity into this, and to just be recognized by somebody at that level, it was a very humbling moment for me,” Barbee stated.

Barbee acknowledges that despite all the praise, he still has more work to do since he wants to expand his catering business and attract new clients.

“If you are a little more adventurous and want to try something new,” he said, “I don’t think you would lose if you bet on Parfé Diem.”
