In October, the gothic story will be brought to Salt Lake City by “A Ghostly Rock Opera”

Salt Lake City, Utah – You could find that Deep Love: A Ghostly Rock Opera is the perfect way to spend your Halloween season if you are looking for a novel way to spend your time during this holiday season. Over the course of more than a decade, the performance has been encouraging audiences in the states of Utah and Idaho to watch and participate in its horrifying story about a love that fails.
On Thursday, October 10, Deep Love will be scheduled to perform at the Rose Wagner Theatre in Salt Lake City, and on Wednesday, October 30, at the Midvalley Performing Arts Center in Taylorsville. Both of these performances are scheduled to take place in Utah. Additional performances of the production are scheduled to take place on Friday, October 25 at the Colonial Theatre in Idaho Falls. You can get tickets for the Deep Love Opera by visiting their website.
The characters on Deep Love tell their story in the manner of a rock opera for the entirety of the show. It centers on Constance, who has recently lost her husband, as her previous lover, Old Bones, who was envious of her, reappears as a ghost to demand her loyalty. Whether she and her new boyfriend are able to endure his pain and jealousy or whether they are unable to overcome his darkness is the subject of the show.
During a rock performance, the audience is enthusiastically urged to clap, sing, dance, and cheer along with the performers. In order to complement the gothic allure of the event, attendees are also encouraged to dress in their most elegant funeral clothing. The participation of the audience, according to the co-director Liz Whittaker, is what makes the production all the more remarkable.
One of the things that makes the presentation so entrancing is the audience that is there to watch it. Every year, the audience is a significant contributor to the thing that keeps the event going. The idea that people should attend the funeral dressed in funeral clothes is one that we have always supported, and some people go to great lengths to do so. “It’s really, really cool that there are people who come dressed in skull makeup, veils, and capes,” Liz added.
She went on to say that she enjoys seeing both the returning fans who have referred to the concert as one of their favorite Halloween traditions as well as the new fans who are coming to see what it is all about.
Not only is Deep Love a favorite among fans and people who are enthusiastic about Halloween, but the original production was also chosen to be a featured show at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in the year 2015. Following that, it was extended an invitation to participate in a workshop at the Johnny Mercer Writer’s Colony, which is located at the Goodspeed Theatre in Connecticut.
According to Whittaker, this year is especially exciting because the long-awaited studio album for the performance will be released digitally on the very first night of the show.
“For years, it has been the thing that people have consistently asked for from the show,” she added. “It has been the consistent thing.”
She went on to clarify that although there have been live recordings of the event, this will be the very first time that it will have an official studio recording of this caliber.
She stated that it had been ten years in the making for her to finally release an album that was artistically polished and really, really solid.
The actor and co-director of Old Bones, Chase McKnight, stated that this will assist in introducing even more people to the program or making it easier for them to investigate it more after they have seen it.
“I’m really excited for people to be able to go home and re-listen to it and analyze it and follow the lyrics and the story, and then hopefully say, ‘Hey, I want to go see that again,'” he added. “I’m really excited for that.”
The recording is also a result of the efforts of Deep Love’s followers, who have contributed to the release of the album by raising money through GoFundMe. In order to create the final result, which will be available on streaming sites on October 10th, Whittaker stated that the majority of the year 2024 was spent laying down tracks, mixing, and mastering.
Whittaker stated that the show originated when its creators, Garrett Sherwood and Ryan Hayes, made the decision to compose a rock opera when they were still in college. This resulted in the creation of a plot that revolved around ghosts, love, and vengeance. The very first performance of Deep Love took place in a living room for a small group of close friends, and since then, the song has experienced phenomenal growth.
Despite the fact that Deep Love will stay faithful to the core of the story and the characters that everyone has grown to know and love, Whittaker has stated that you can anticipate a few unexpected turns in the performance this year.
Over the course of time, it has been gradually evolving, undergoing change, and expanding. An additional layer of flavor is added with each new musician that joins the band. The addition of each new cast member brings something unique to the table, she explained.
As McKnight mentioned, a significant part of the enchantment of Deep Love is that it cannot be described, and it is best experienced in person. According to him, it is “an objective look at the concept of love,” but it has a twist in that it investigates how love can also be a “detriment to the characters.”
They are aware of every aspect of it. One could say that it is their salvation, but at the same time, it is also their damnation. They are experiencing both the best and the worst thing that could possibly happen to them at the same time. They are saved, but they are also condemned by it. When asked about it, he stated, “I just think that’s a really cool interesting twist on a love story.”
