Salt Lake city, Utah – Clayton Keller has been chosen by the Utah Hockey Club to be the first locker room leader.

The Utah Hockey Club’s inaugural season in the National Hockey League will be led by the 26-year-old native of Chesterfield, Missouri. The season will begin with a home game on Tuesday, October 8.

Keller expressed his immense honor at being named captain of the Utah Hockey Club. “I want to express my gratitude for this chance and my appreciation to the entire organization for their belief in me. I am aware that being captain of the NHL is a privilege, and it is an enormous honor to know that the team’s management, coaches, and teammates trust me with the reins.

Keller will be the youngest captain of a franchise in its first season since 1979–1980, when Ron Chipperfield, at 25 years old, captained the Edmonton Oilers. Keller will also be the sixth-youngest player in NHL history to captain a team in its debut season.

Four-time NHL All-Star Keller was honored by the Utah Hockey Club. He was one of nine NHL players to skate in the last three All-Star Games. In addition, he is a prolific scorer, having scored more than 30 goals in each of the previous two seasons and finishing first on his club in five of his seven NHL seasons.

Keller embodied the principles of the organization and the image the team is trying to establish in Utah, according to Chris Armstrong, president of hockey operations for Utah Hockey Club.

As one of the best players in the league, he sets an excellent example on the ice. Because of his unwavering commitment to helping his teammates and himself reach their full potential, he consistently gains the respect of his peers, coaches, and our training staff off the ice. He will be a fantastic captain and is prepared for the role.

Keller’s development as a leader, according to head coach André Tourigny, has been remarkable. The player is a “high character person.”

Tourigny stated, “[He] has the respect of everyone in the organization and genuinely cares for his teammates.” “I’m thrilled to have Clayton leading us; he’ll be an excellent captain.”

As captain, Keller acknowledged the enormous responsibility that comes with guiding the club, but he also stated that the group will put in a lot of effort to reach their objective of making the playoffs since they have a “room full of great leaders.”

On Saturday, October 5, the Utah Hockey Club will play the Colorado Avalanche at the Maverik Center in West Valley City to conclude their inaugural NHL preseason. The team has won four of its six preseason games, demonstrating a strong performance against its NHL rivals thus far.
