Man claims self-defense after shooting, killing friend in West Valley City
A man who told police he shot and killed his friend in West Valley City Monday night claims it was self-defense.
Lt. Bill Merritt with the West Valley City Police Department said the two men were inside a motor home drinking when an argument ensued.
The shooter claimed the victim attacked him, and that he feared for his own life. The man died at the scene.
Police say the shooter is being cooperative with the investigation.
There may have been a witness inside the home where the motor home is parked, but police are still looking into it.
According to Merritt, self-defense claims are hard to prove, especially when there are no other witnesses. He said this will largely depend on evidence.
The shooter is currently in custody.
There is no danger to the public at this time regarding this shooting.
