Ogden, Utah – With the admission of almost 400 international students, Weber State University is creating history.
The institution reports that Weber State now has 832 international students overall after welcoming 372 new international students.
Mary Machira, the executive director of Weber location’s office of foreign programs and services, stated that the majority of students mention affordability as a crucial factor, combined with Utah’s reputation as a safe location that appeals to parents. Furthermore, Weber State provides students with a variety of academic opportunities through its extensive program offerings.
Roughly half of the foreign students are from Nepal, the announcement states.
According to Machira, the university attracts Nepali students due to positive word-of-mouth and the sense of community that is built among international students, particularly those from Nepal.
Sulav Chhetri, a Nepali student concentrating on higher education leadership while obtaining a master’s degree in education, expressed his happiness at Weber State in a press release.
He remarked, “I’m happy to see so many Nepali students visiting Utah.” “I feel like I am not too far from home when they are around.”
According to Machira, having international students on campus enhances cross-cultural interactions. She added that having foreign students helps American students’ perspectives to grow.
According to Machira, “Weber State provides access to learning experiences and extracurricular opportunities that may not be available in their home countries, along with the prestige of attending a U.S. university for international students.”
