Park City suffering economic blow without Sundance Film Festival

PARK CITY, Utah — Typically at this time of year, Park City’s streets would be jam-packed with people attending the Sundance Film Festival. Since the festival is online this year, Park City is facing a heavy economic blow.

Without the flux of visitors at Sundance in Park City, some key economic sectors are suffering more than others. Tourists in other states are more likely to spend their money in other states where they can stay in hotels, eat in restaurants, etc.

Another event, the International Freestyle World Cup ski competition begins Friday. This World Cup event is the only one planned in-person in the United States this year.

However, the crowds are thin in Deer Valley this year due to COVID-19 concerns.
