Public asked to avoid area after a significant water leak in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, Utah — Due to a “significant water leak,” the public has been asked to avoid the area of 2100 South and 1100 East in Salt Lake City.

The incident happened sometime before 9 p.m. Friday.

According to Officials with the Salt Lake City Fire Department, firefighters are working with the streets and water department, as well as the Salt Lake City Police Department.

“Our officers are on the scene helping with traffic control for this incident,” read a tweet from the SLCPD.

The social media post went on to say, “Please avoid the area so city crews can assess the situation, work on identifying the cause and start repairs as quickly as possible.”

According to Capt. Anthony Burton with the Salt Lake City Fire Department,, no evacuations have been ordered at this time.
