Scammers are targeting theater-goers attending the Nutcracker in Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City, Utah – Recently, several individuals fell victim to scams while attempting to purchase tickets for William Christensen’s The Nutcracker in downtown Salt Lake City.

With the holiday celebrations in full swing, Ballet West advises guests that purchasing tickets directly from their website is the safest option.
“I initially considered it pricey, but I assumed it was due to the Nutcracker performance during the Christmas season.” “That’s likely the reason they were quite good tickets, so I didn’t think much more about it,” Cowley remarked.

Cowley revealed that she believed she was buying legitimate seats from gotickets.com, but received an unexpected call shortly after completing her payment.
“I expressed my concerns, saying, ‘I feel like you’re scamming me,’ so I reached out to Ballet West for clarification. They confirmed my suspicions, stating that I have indeed been scammed,” Cowley recounted.
The Better Business Bureau Mountain West recommends purchasing directly from the venue whenever possible.
“Attending a venue, be it an arena theater or any other type, might be the most secure choice,” stated Melani Fox, the director of communications for the BBB Mountain West.
Ballet West is alerting patrons about ticket scams and advises those interested in attending a performance to buy tickets directly from their official website.
“Goldberg emphasized the importance of visiting balletwest.org directly. He cautioned that using a search engine could lead to results that are not affiliated with their official site, as third-party ticket sellers have become quite advanced in their tactics.” “Their websites are visually appealing and frequently outperform ours in search rankings.”
The BBB advises verifying any website thoroughly, particularly prior to sharing personal information.
“When looking at the URL, ensure it includes ‘https,’ with the ‘s’ indicating that it is secure,” stated Fox.
Experts, along with the unfortunate target of the hoax, aim to raise awareness regarding potential scams.
“Due to the numerous scams perpetrated by third-party ticket sellers, I am prepared to go on record to assist others,” stated Cowley.
