The forthcoming annual Sandy celebration will be dominated by hot-air balloons
Sandy, Utah – In August, Sandy will host its free annual Hot-Air Balloon Festival and Glow Event, which will feature hot-air balloons dazzling onlookers for two days.
The festival will be held at Storm Mountain Park, which is situated at 1000 East 11400 South, on Friday, August 9, and Saturday, August 10. As long as the weather cooperates for a safe takeoff, the balloons will start to ascend into the air at sunrise, which is approximately 6:30 a.m. on both days.
The festival is deemed a “can’t-miss, Instragamable event” by Visit Salt Lake. Sandy is going to host its yearly festival for the seventeenth time this year.
“Taking place in a public park with the towering Wasatch mountains as a backdrop, and as the sun comes up over Lone Peak, multitudes of hot-air balloons float into the air and present an incredible spectacle,” Visit Salt Lake’s website reads.
In order to get balloons in the air first thing in the morning, Sandy City claims that more help is constantly needed. Early risers have the opportunity to see the hot-air balloons firsthand and may even be eligible for a free tethered flight up to 80 feet in the sky.
Still not in favor of rising so early? There’s still a lot to process. The City Promenade (10000 South Centennial Parkway) will conduct a Glow Event on Saturday night where hot-air balloons will remain on the ground but be lit up by their flames. At 10 p.m., there will be a stunning drone light show to follow the Glow Event.
For the whole family to enjoy, the Saturday night event will feature food trucks, music, face painting, and balloon twisting.
The public is welcome to attend the drone light show, Glow Event, and hot-air balloon show for free.
