Trader Joe’s launches a new shop in Sugar House

Salt Lake City, Utah – On Friday, October 11, Trader Joe’s launched its fifth location in Sugar House, the Beehive State. Situated on the same block as Dee’s restaurant, the new site at 2160 S. 700 East is built in a structure that was formerly occupied by a Pep Boys auto parts store.

Other grocery chain sites in Utah include 400 South in Salt Lake City, Cottonwood Heights, Draper, and Orem. The Sugar House store was initially revealed by Trader Joe’s in March.

Lindsay Vognar, a resident of Salt Lake City who attended the official opening of the new site, believes that the store’s location is its primary attraction.

“We are ecstatic,” Vognar declared. “Having an additional location option to Downtown is really nice.”

There was a band performance and ribbon cutting on Friday during the opening. In addition, guests are urged to observe the artwork and motif of the store, which, according to store manager Nick Golfinopoulos, is an homage to the new site.

“Our team put a lot of effort into creating a neighborhood store, and the result is the new store,” Golfinopoulos added. “And if you take a look around, you’ll notice that all of the murals depict all of the landmarks and themes that the Sugar House community will find meaningful.”

Throughout the store, visitors may see artwork depicting Sugar House Park, the Tracy Aviary, and Dee’s well-known rotating sign—albeit with a Trader Joe’s twist.

The 10,600-square-foot business is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. Only on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day is Trader Joe’s closed.
