Grantsville now full of skeletons one year after controversial display
Grantsville, Utah – Grantsville decided to embrace Halloween decorations this year, following a minor issue involving skeleton decorations in the city the previous year.
This year, the city requested that companies display their best skeleton decorations. Also, the public will soon have the opportunity to choose a winner.
“Private citizens are doing it as well as businesses,” Grantsville Mayor Neil Critchlow remarked. “Doing this is a fantastic experience. People are viewing the bones while strolling with their children.”
For their competition, the city has asked nearby establishments to go all out in search of bones.
A Grantsville business owner named Christina Keener stated, “When they came up with this, I was happy because it was a chance for them to show that they all have a great sense of humor and that they love that the town wants to do fun things.”
Critchlow described how, by involving everyone, they are transforming negative publicity from the previous Halloween season into positive exposure.
Skeletons pole dancing in a Grantsville neighborhood in 2023 gave rise to the concept. The display was tied to a city street sign, which is the only reason the city said it needed to be taken down. Then, using their own pole, the residents installed the display in their yard.
It became more exotic last year and became quite popular. Bryan Duvall of Grantsville said, “We have the stripper crew down there at our neighbors, and it’s kind of turned into a whole neighborhood thing.”
Duvall and his family adopted the same motif as their next-door neighbors this year.
Breyker Duvall walked around the exhibit and observed, “These two men right here are watching the woman, and the woman here is saying hi to that man.” “If you look over here, you’ll notice that there are two people: one over here and one over there. The woman with money is waving her arm. You must be 21 years of age or older to enter, and that large guy over here is security.”
Breyker expressed his happiness that his favorite festival is being observed by the entire town.
I adore Halloween in general. Everyone likes it, and it’s my favorite time of year,” he remarked.
