Utah Reports 334 New COVID-19 Cases, 2 New Deaths

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Thursday announced 334 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths.

The seven-day rolling average is 354 positive tests per day, or 8.6% of those tested. The state has tested 584,656 people so far, and 45,242 of those tests came back positive.

There are 184 patients currently hospitalized with the virus, and 74 of those patients are in intensive care units. Another 22 patients are hospitalized as COVID-19 persons under investigation. UDOH reports 53.7% of all ICU beds and 66.8% oof all ICU beds in Utah hospitals are occupied.

A total of 353 people have died so far. The following deaths, both from Salt Lake County were reported Thursday:

  • Male – between 65-84, not hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, older than 85, long-term care facility resident

The state is considering 35,817 patients as recovered, meaning those patients received a positive diagnosis more than three weeks ago, and they have not died.
