Community Nursing Services is behind this effort to vaccinate teachers in Salt Lake and Utah counties.

Working on a mandate from the governor, Community Nursing Services recently obtained 14,500 doses of the Moderna vaccine and started vaccinating teachers and staff.

The line moved steadily at Hunter Junior High in West Valley City, with one veteran educator calling it a real “TGIF.”

“It is very comforting, and I am very proud of our teachers,” said Paulette McMillan with Granite School District. “For everyone that’s been there on the front lines and willing to, during times of maybe even periods of anxiety … they were there for the kids because that’s what we do.”

Officials with Community Nursing Services say once they finish distributing the vaccine doses in Salt Lake and Utah counties, they will then focus on teachers in Morgan and Weber counties.
