West Valley City, Utah – Three residences were damaged in a fire that broke out in West Valley City early on Thursday morning, and fireworks are being investigated as a potential cause.

At around 2:40 a.m., according to the West Valley City Fire Department, firefighters were called to a fire at 5038 West Elaine Dr.

According to reports, the fire began in one house’s backyard and moved to two other houses’ yards.

According to fire officials, the house that caught fire first sustained the most damage and is now uninhabitable.

Troy Wood has spent 27 years in his house in West Valley City.

He claims that on Thursday, at around 2:30 a.m., he noticed an orange glow coming from his bedroom window.

Wood claims that he discovered fires in his property afterward. In order for them to securely leave their house, he claims to have woken his wife up.

According to Wood, the fire damaged three sheds, an RV, and some of his family’s priceless possessions.

“We lost everything from our parents, both me and my wife spent the last two years cleaning out houses of our parents when they died, and we had all of our mementos and stuff go up in flames,” said Wood. “And, it is just hard to watch everything you fought for years to just go up in flames in an hour.”

Wood expressed gratitude that no one was gravely injured on Thursday. The Red Cross is helping those who were displaced, according to West Valley Fire.
