1,326 new COVID-19 cases 25 coronavirus related deaths are reported in Utah
Salt Lake City, Utah — According to the Utah Department of Health, an additional 25 Utahns have been killed by COVID-19 since Monday.
Of the 25 new deaths, eight were women and 17 were men. The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 2,829.
Two of the reported deaths happened prior to Sept. 1, 2021.
An additional 1,326 Utahns tested positive for the virus with 294 more school-aged children now infected.
Almost 10,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the state since yesterday.
580 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 across the state.
The Utah Department of Health reported the following Tuesday:
Positives:
We will report 495,704 positive cases today. This is an increase of 1,326 new cases since yesterday.
School-age cases:
School-aged children account for 294 of today’s newly announced cases. We will report 121 cases in children ages 5-10, 74 cases in children ages 11-13, and 99 cases in children ages 14-17 since yesterday.
Vaccines:
We will report 3,399,468 total doses administered today. This is an increase of 9,764 doses since yesterday.
Vaccinated vs Unvaccinated Risk Ratio:
In the last 28 days, people who are unvaccinated are at 5.9 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 7.2 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19, and 6.6 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.
Since February 1, 2021, people who are unvaccinated are at 4.7 times greater risk of dying from COVID-19, 5.1 times greater risk of being hospitalized due to COVID-19, and 4.4 times greater risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.
Lab Tests:
We will report 3,371,184 people tested. This is an increase of 7,925 people tested since yesterday.
We will report 6,059,387 total tests. This is an increase of 14,954 tests since yesterday.
Trends:
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 1,464 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 13.8%. The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 10%.
Hospitalizations:
There are 580 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 21,551.
