Auto-pedestrian crash closes northbound I-215 East, driver died at the scene
Millcreek, Utah — Due to a fatal auto-pedestrian accident, the northbound lanes of Interstate 215 East were closed Friday morning.
According to UHP Sgt. Cameron Roden, a truck and trailer were traveling north on I-215 East.
“The trailer became detached from the truck and came to rest with the trailer in the center lane at approximately 3400 South,” Roden said. A “Toyota 4Runner was traveling north in the center lane and hit the trailer. After that initial crash, the driver of the 4Runner exited his vehicle.”
Sometime after exiting the vehicle, the driver of the 4Runner was struck by a Fiat passenger car. The driver of the 4Runner sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
At 7:48 a.m. UDOT tweeted “NB I-215 Easts still closed at exit 4, for 3900 South in Millcreek, due to a crash. Expect major delays in the area, consider using alternate routes such as I-15 and I-80.”
Pending notification of family, the deceased man has not been identified.
