Moab man charged after interfering with deputy giving CPR

Moab, Utah – Charges have been brought against a Moab man who obstructed a Grand County Sheriff’s deputy in September as the deputy was performing CPR on a patient.
On Friday, Grand County charged 44-year-old Jeffrey Allen Lawn with three misdemeanors and a third-degree felony of obstruction of justice. As to the charges filed, this is related to an event that happened on September 20. During the CPR, Lawn was “repeatedly critiquing the chest compressions,” and at one point, he grabbed the deputy’s hands.
Lawn continuously asserted that she was a fifteen-year critical care paramedic, according to the probable cause statement that was submitted that day. She also defied orders from other deputies to leave.
The Grand County Sheriff’s Office looked into Lawn’s claims after the incident, but they were unable to locate a current Emergency Medical Technician license for Lawn. An expired credential from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians was the closest thing they could find.
Monday is scheduled as Lawn’s first court date.
