Park City, Utah – The labor dispute with Vail Resorts is still ongoing, according to the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association. On Friday, ski patrol members who were unionized left their posts.

Despite ongoing talks over the past two days, the union said in a statement and letter to Kirsten Lynch, the C.E.O. of Vail Resorts, on Wednesday that they are still far from reaching an agreement.

“Despite over nine months of bargaining, The Union has yet to see adequate movement from the company on wages and benefits,” the statement added. According to organization leaders, they will have another meeting with the resort on Thursday.

Representatives of the union said they seek a fair contract that takes into account the high cost of living in Park City, incorporates seasonal perks, and honors the experience of its members.

Nik Smith, PCPSPA VP, and nine-year patroller, stated, “We are surprised the company’s counter-proposal is still far from what we feel is acceptable given the major impacts our work stoppage has had on resort operations.”

The union also listed the things the resort wanted to see done right now in the letter to Kirsten Lynch. This entails communicating with employees in a courteous and straightforward manner and stopping the purported pressure on workers to go to Park City in order to cross the picket line.
