Residents of Huntsville are coming together to support one another during the ongoing emergency water shortage
Huntsville, Utah – Residents in Huntsville are gathering water at various stations following the discovery of a significant leak in the town’s water system.
Bill White, a resident of Huntsville, expressed, “In the last two months, we’ve experienced four significant leaks.” “We experience a few leaks annually, but this has been the most severe.”
Mayor Richard Sorenson has reported that the leak is situated between the town’s power plant and the water storage tank.
On Monday, the town discovered that the tank storage level was dropping more quickly than they were able to replenish it. Sorenson noted in an email that by Thursday, their tank had decreased to 10 percent, a drop from 15 percent within a 24-hour timeframe.
Residents of Huntsville are coming together to support each other amid a water shortage.
Jeff and Kris Larsen visited one of the town’s water stations to fill jugs for their elderly neighbors in need of assistance.
The Larsens assisted by pouring water into their neighbors’ toilets and reserved water for drinking, as well as for washing clothes and dishes.
A couple paused to assist Marvel Hislop, 93, who actually required no assistance whatsoever. Hislop had previously prepared her own water by filling buckets with snow early Saturday morning and allowing it to melt.
“Sleep eluded me.” “I woke up at 3 o’clock and thought, ‘I’m going to go start because they need to start melting,’” Hislop remarked. “I filled all my containers and placed them in the bathtub.” Finally, I’ll have water available to wash dishes.
The Larsens encountered a few neighbors who were also prioritizing others over their own needs.
On Saturday morning, Bill White and his son, Jack, filled jugs and containers with 25 gallons of water for others.
“The town issued several text messages urging residents to keep an eye on their neighbors,” White stated.
The small town of Huntsville took that very action.
Moreover, Weber County officials are prepared to assist Huntsville if necessary.
