The MLK Day March begins at the University of Utah

Salt Lake City, Utah – Salt Lake City’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day March & Rally kicks off at the University of Utah this afternoon.
The march begins at the university’s performing arts center — Kingsbury Hall. The center is located at 1395 Presidents’ Circle, Salt Lake City.
Participants will finish the march at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, located at 410 Campus Center Drive, and be greeted with coffee and hot chocolate upon their arrival.
The event will be from 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. today, Jan. 20, with the rally beginning inside Kingsbury Hall at 2:30 and the march following at 3:15 p.m. The celebration marks the 41st MLK Day march.
Civil rights leaders and the King family are marking this year’s MLK Day as a special call to action as Trump takes office. As President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in at the Capitol’s rotunda, he will do so facing a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. on the federal holiday.
“We invite all community members to join us in honoring Dr. King’s legacy by taking action to build a more just and connected society,” a statement from the University of Utah reads. “Community involvement is essential in creating a future guided by connection, understanding, and compassion.”
MLK Week is planned along with multiple organizations across the University of Utah and the surrounding community.
