Salt Lake City, Utah – There are two firsts in Utah election history that the Salt Lake County Council is witnessing. The battle for the At-Large C position on the Salt Lake County Council was decided on Friday night. Democrat Natalie Pinkney announced her victory after a close contest with Republican Rachelle Morris.

Natalie Pinkney is the first Black woman elected to the Salt Lake County Council and the first Black person elected to a county-wide office in Utah.

Pinkney was elected to the Salt Lake County Council At Large C seat in this historic election.

After winning the 2024 General Election, Pinkney released a statement.

According to Natalie Pinkney’s remark, this triumph demonstrates the effectiveness of grassroots organizing. She claimed that she was up against a wealthy opponent who had made several sizable donations. However, Pinkney’s campaign raised more money than the opposition thanks to modest contributions.

In the statement, Pinkney added that she had received numerous first-person accounts from county residents during this campaign.

“I have heard countless stories from voters throughout this campaign about their desire to put an end to divisive politics, their love for our county’s incredible services, and their struggles to afford housing.”

According to Pinkney, these tales inspire her to put a stop to divisive politics, lower housing costs, and safeguard county services.
