Beaver, Utah – To keep the Little Twist Fire in Beaver County under control before flames spread, crews intended to utilize a heli-torch to burn away dry grass and brush.

On Saturday, the wildfire’s containment level remained at 25% on 2,550 acres, unchanged from the previous day. Since Thursday, only 20 more acres have burnt.

According to state officials, firefighters were attempting to limit the fire’s perimeter to prevent it from spreading.

They claimed that to prevent the wildfire from spreading into uncontained areas, further fire lines would be created using the heli-torch.

“A heli-torch will be utilized for aerial ignitions on the north side of the fire, where steep, rough terrain makes it difficult for ground crews to access,” officials said.

Public access was maintained to the region surrounding the fire.

Miles away, the smoke from the fire was apparent. According to officials, the smoke would probably be seen for weeks from Highways 89 and 20, Interstate 15, and Interstate 70.

The campsites at Kent’s Lake, Little Reservoir, and Tushar Lakeside were still accessible.
