Wildfire along the Tooele-Juab County boundary causes evacuations
Tooele County, Utah — A wildfire occurred on Saturday afternoon close to the border between Juab County and Tooele County, forcing some campers to leave their campsites.
Around 1:30 p.m., according to state wildfire officials, the “Boulter Fire” was initially spotted along State Route 36. The distance to the north of the county line is roughly three miles.
The strong winds in the area caused the fire to spread swiftly. It had expanded to an estimated 3,000 acres by 7:30 p.m. The wind is bringing it eastward into the Tintic Mountains, north of Eureka, according to officials.
There is a closure on SR-36 from milepost 3 to 11.
According to state officials, there were evacuations between Vernon and Eureka. It was stated by the Utah County Sheriff’s Office that campers were among the people evacuated. Within 6 to 8 miles of Five Mile Pass, a well-liked off-roading destination, there was a fire.
Officials reported that by Saturday night, the fire’s progress had slowed down and may have even stopped.
Although the fire is not close to the city, Salt Lake City Police stated, residents may still be able to smell or see smoke in the air as a result of the fire when the wind is blowing in their way.
