Salt Lake City, Utah – In November, Utah’s unemployment rate was below the national average and remained stable.

Monthly data from the Utah Department of Workforce Services showed that the unemployment rate remained at 3.5%. After rising during the summer, the state’s unemployment rate has stayed at 3.5% for the last three months.

In November, the national unemployment rate was 4.2%.

Additionally, according to data for November, Utah had 30,900 more jobs this year than it did the previous year.

Jobs increased in most industries. However, there was a decline in the leisure and hospitality, retail, transportation, and utility sectors.

The Utah Department of Workforce Services’ chief economist, Ben Crabb, stated in a news release that “the state’s labor market is exhibiting continued resilience and stability as the year draws to a close, despite some pockets of weakness, particularly in retail trade and leisure and hospitality.”
