Residents at YWCA feeling extra sweet with surprise cupcake, painted vase gifts
Salt Lake City. Utah – On Saturday, a nonprofit organization and teenage volunteers putting together cupcake decorating kits and hand painting vases made Residents at the YWCA feel especially sweet.
The cupcake decorating kits came with everything they needed to frost and decorate two cupcakes from a local bakery, as well as written instructions and a video demonstration.
According to the statement, residents were also handed cards for the kits.
Youth, including young men, and Love Lake City Project organizers filled 80 kits and 80 bud vases in two hours.
The YWCA had seen an increase in intake, with some of the families having small children since the start of COVID-19.
The press release stated, “Experiencing something as simple as decorating a cupcake will help them feel a sense of normalcy in a time that is in transition to rebuilding a life away from domestic violence.”
“They will be extremely glad to receive these kits,” Allie, Volunteer Coordinator at the YWCA, remarked during her presentation to the Volunteers.
The YWCA provides the most comprehensive family violence programs in Utah.
